10 Trees Initiative

We are thrilled to be in partnership with the Ten Trees Initiative supporting Mother Earth, women, and community…

The community-led 10 Trees Initiative in Mpumalanga, South Africa works with more than 160 women-headed, rural households to support them in each planting 10 productive trees and shrubs to eradicate hunger and poverty, while regenerating the local landscape.

The project is sponsored by Project Biome and led by Zingela Ulwazi Trust. The goal is to improve food security, create incomes from tree and plant products, and re-establish a healthy relationship with Nature. Nature heals, transforms, and helps us remember who we are, co-creators with Her.

By fostering and nurturing these home food forests in challenging ecosystems and circumstances, nature's qualities of abundance, resiliency, strength, regeneration, creativity, and beauty spark and expand in each woman.

After one year, 12% of households in the village were participating and had planted more than 1,600 trees and 51 types of medicinal plants. Join us in celebrating and supporting the expansion of the planting of these trees and the bright future they represent!
